Turkish Coffee in Downtown Dubai
A 4 oz heritage serve: finely ground, prepared slowly, rich and full-bodied. At MRJADE, Turkish coffee isn’t a menu add-on. It’s where the brand comes from, a family craft since 1958 and coffee roasted in Istanbul.

Turkish coffee is where MRJADE starts.
Many cafes list Turkish coffee. At MRJADE, it runs through the whole story: a founder raised in a Turkish family in Germany, a grandfather’s coffee craft dating back to 1958, and a roasting stage that still happens in Istanbul.
1958
Jade Sen’s grandfather’s Turkish coffee craftsmanship, the family root of the brand.
Istanbul roasting
MRJADE’s coffee is roasted in Istanbul, with traditional methods and modern control.
German-Turkish founder
Born in Düsseldorf in 1977 to a Turkish family, moving between two coffee cultures.
Now in Downtown Dubai
The same heritage, served as a 4 oz cup at Burj Crown on Emaar Boulevard.
Recognised by UNESCO since 2013.
In 2013, UNESCO inscribed Turkish coffee culture and tradition on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. UNESCO describes the beans being ground to a fine powder and brewed slowly with cold water and sugar in a pot to produce foam, then served in small cups with a glass of water.

That’s the spirit behind the cup at MRJADE too: a drink for slowing down and talking, even in the middle of Downtown Dubai.
How to drink Turkish coffee properly.
It’s unfiltered, small and concentrated, so it asks for a slightly different rhythm than a latte.
- Start with water. Traditionally, Turkish coffee is served with a glass of water. A sip first clears the palate so the coffee tastes as it should.
- Let it settle. Turkish coffee is unfiltered: the grounds are part of the cup. Give it a minute after it arrives so they sink to the bottom.
- Sip slowly. It’s a small, concentrated cup, meant to be sipped, not downed. Enjoy the foam on top first.
- Stop before the grounds. When you reach the thick layer at the bottom, you’re done. The grounds stay in the cup.
Turkish coffee is ordered by sweetness.
Traditionally, sugar is added while the coffee brews rather than stirred in afterwards, so you choose your sweetness when you order. These are the classic levels; tell our team at the counter how you’d like yours.
Plain, no sugar
For tasting the coffee itself: bold, bitter-edged and aromatic.
A little sugar
Softens the edge without turning it into something sweet.
Medium sweet
The common middle ground in Turkish coffee culture.
Sweet
For those who like it rounded and dessert-adjacent.
Turkish coffee vs espresso, V60 and Arabic coffee.
Four very different ways to make a small, strong cup, and how they differ in the grind, the brew and the result.
| Coffee | How it’s made | In the cup | Serve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turkish Coffee | Very fine powder, brewed slowly in a small pot, served unfiltered | Rich, full-bodied, foam on top, grounds settle | Small cup; a 4 oz heritage serve at MRJADE |
| Espresso | Fine grind, water forced through under pressure | Short, concentrated, with crema | A single or double shot |
| V60 Filter | Medium grind, hand-poured through a paper filter | Clean, lighter-bodied, more clarity | A longer black coffee |
| Arabic coffee (qahwa) | Typically lightly roasted and often spiced with cardamom | Light, aromatic, spiced | Small handleless cups; not on the MRJADE menu |
Want something between the two? MRJADE Crema, our signature, is velvety and full-bodied; the V60 is the lightest, cleanest black coffee we pour.

Short answers for first-timers and regulars alike.
Where can I get Turkish coffee in Downtown Dubai?

What makes Turkish coffee different from espresso?
Turkish coffee uses a very fine powder brewed slowly in a small pot and served unfiltered, so the grounds settle in the cup. Espresso forces water through a fine grind under pressure for a short, concentrated shot with crema. Turkish coffee is fuller and thicker; espresso is sharper and quicker.
Is Turkish coffee the same as Arabic coffee?
No. Turkish coffee is dark, very finely ground and served unfiltered with foam on top. Arabic coffee (qahwa) is typically lightly roasted and often spiced with cardamom. MRJADE serves Turkish coffee; Arabic qahwa isn’t on our menu.
How do you drink Turkish coffee properly?

Fact-check note: The UNESCO inscription and its description of Turkish coffee come from UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage listing. MRJADE’s serve, roasting, heritage and hours come from the cafe and its own brand story. The sweetness levels, drinking steps and comparison with other coffees describe general Turkish coffee tradition, not a specific MRJADE preparation method.
